Let’s Talk

Can we talk?

Remember those famous words?  It’s funny; if you google that exact term, Tevin Campbell’s signature hit pops up #1 in the search results.  And I really like that song from back in the day.  But I was thinking more along the lines of Joan Rivers’ famous catchphrase

See, for those of us old enough to remember (way back before the internet), she owned that term.  And when someone used it, the intended homage was crystal clear.  But I digress.

The point that I’m making with dear ol’ Joan’s term is that I want to talk.  Yes, obviously I am not talking but actually writing instead (and at what point did everything need to be fully explained out, like people lack the ability to intelligently discern information?).

That isn’t my point either.

My point is that I want us to have a conversation.  And no, not just me & you.  But me, you, the next guy, and the gal after him that wandered onto the site.  The way I see things, the internet is revolutionary in so many ways…but one of those primary ways is how it allows us to communicate.  Literally all of us, regardless of our nationality, age, education level, and various backgrounds.

At times the enormity of that concept can be overwhelming.  I’m sure you’ve experienced it before on different sites; all the spam, the shouting, and the noise.  Too often, you have to wade through a sea of sewage just to have an interesting conversation.

So what I propose is that we use this site as a place for discussion.  Of course I understand that you come here to see what I have to say about this and that.  But as I see it, I’m just starting the dialogue.  I very much want you to be a part of the conversation too.

So here’s 2 ways we can do this:

  1. Let’s talk about things in the comment area below. I have turned off the moderation to encourage commentary.  And you have my word that I will only get rid of obvious spam.  Otherwise, speak your piece!
  2. Since this blog is an outgrowth of my Twitter handle, we can discuss subject matter on Twitter as well. If you have anything you would like to say, please use the hashtag #freestatements.  I will definitely look for it and respond in kind.

There.  Now that that’s said, let’s talk!  Here’s my open invitation; let me know what you think, how you feel, or simply comment to get anything you want to off your chest (in the space below).  I’m listening.
